Although a year has passed since its release, Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick” is still making Hollywood noises, amid news of talks with the American star to film a third part of it.
According to a report in People Today, Thursday, the film achieved revenues of $ 1.5 billion a year after it was shown in cinemas around the world, which makes it the fifth highest-grossing film in the history of the United States of America, and the 12th in the world, according to the magazine’s classification.
Last month, the filmmakers celebrated the one-year anniversary of the second part of “Top Gun” and pointed out that it is still generating very large revenues, amounting to $ 101.5 million at the Japanese box office, for example, this year.
And the magazine considered that “Maverick” managed to remove Cruz’s “The Last Samurai” also from the list of the most followed films in Japan, to become the number one film produced by Paramount in Japan.
“Top Gun: Maverick” was nominated for 6 Oscars last March, but only for the Best Voice award, in light of its hero boycotting the ceremony due to his refusal to be nominated for the Best Actor category.
After the success of the second part, the public hopes that a third part will be released very soon, especially after Miles Teller, one of the film’s protagonists, alluded to this last July, indicating that Cruz had held talks on the subject.
