Iron Maiden and Slavia Prague join forces for charity match and special jerseys auction

The match took place in an intimate atmosphere with practically no spectators. Seventy-six-year-old bassist and main composer Steve Harris played the entire game for the band and contributed greatly to the final victory of the guests 10:6. But the result wasn’t too important, the whole band signed special slavish jerseys with the Iron Maiden logo after the match, which fans can auction off until Saturday, June 10. The number of jerseys is limited and no more will be produced.

Bassist Harris also joined Iron Maiden.

“It’s great that Slavia and heavy metal legends Iron Maiden jointly contributed to the Slavia Foundation for the seriously ill twelve-year-old Terezka. Proceeds from special signed jerseys and contributions from match partners who played in our jersey will go to her. I smile at their enthusiasm and endurance and I believe that they enjoyed the match with a number of football legends as much as we did,” commented the chairman of the board of directors, Jaroslav Tvrdík.

“When I got the chance to play against them, I said it’s great, why not. I admire them for going to play in this heat between two concerts,” says Slavistic legend Vladimír Šmicer.

Rival Slavia played in the colors of West Ham United, who are waiting for the Conference League final in Eden in a few days. Steve Harris is a big fan of the team from East London, whose colors are also defended by Czech representatives Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal.

It must be added that Tomáš Necid and Karel Poborský completed the Iron Maiden team in the charity match. Vladimír Šmicer led the selection of Slavia as captain. In addition to Pavel Kuka, Patrik Berger and the club’s employees and partners, he also had a representative of the Live Nation agency, which arranged the duel, at his side. Dan Bárta also ran onto the pitch, Jakub Prachař or Matěj Ruppert also came on.

Slavia was led by Vladimír Šmicer.

“On behalf of the Slavia Foundation, we are very happy that this charity match could take place. The proceeds will be used to help twelve-year-old Terezka Němečková, who suffers from a form of cerebral palsy. At the moment, she is not able to walk independently, she moves around in a wheelchair, which is why it is important for the family to have barrier-free housing. The collected money will go to the renovation of the bathroom and social facilities so that they are barrier-free,” explained Silvie Šprýnarová, director of the Slavie Foundation.
