Casa Botines de León celebrates tomorrow the first of the conferences on the landscape and Sorolla
The Museo Casa Botines Gaudí in León, on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Sorolla and the landscape of his time’, is also holding a series of conferences, which will begin tomorrow, Thursday, June 1, at 8:00 p.m., with ‘The plenairist landscape in Spain’, which will be given by the exhibition curator, Antonio Ugidos. In his intervention, Ugidos will address the beginnings and development of the “revolutionary painting en plein air or in the open air” in Spain, where great artists who are part of the exhibition housed by the Museum stood out.
Antonio Ugidos Álvarez is a doctor in Agricultural Engineering and a specialist in Gardens and Landscape Architecture. He has been president of the Spanish Association of Public Parks and Gardens.
In addition, he has dedicated his entire life to the study of landscape painting, especially the Spanish landscape of the 19th century, a subject on which his doctoral thesis deals. The conference ‘Sorolla and the landscape of his time’ includes the most significant and innovative contributions of this thesis.
