Janne Andersson will apologize to the players after the altercation with Bojan Djordjic.
But the national team captain makes no demands on Viaplay ahead of the upcoming national team meeting.
– They get to choose their team in the studio and I choose mine, he says.
Janne Andersson faces a new national team meeting in two weeks – and a new meeting with Viaplay when Sweden meets New Zealand in a training match and Austria in the European Championship qualifier.
The national team captain ended up in a heated exchange with Bojan Djordjic most recently after feeling disrespected by the Viaplay studio.
But ahead of the upcoming meeting, the union captain feels that everything is settled.
– I am a forgiving person in myself and in my leadership. I cleaned it up and had a press conference the next day. Then I talked with Bojan and with Viaplay and presented what I felt and thought and experienced. For me, that’s it. They get to pick their team in the studio and I pick my team.
“No demands made”
Andersson has felt that the Viaplay experts have been more interested in presenting their own opinion than listening to his view of the match and that it has been “four against one”.
But the national team captain has not expressed any opinions about the line-up for Viaplay.
– I have not made any demands whatsoever. They can do exactly what they want. But I have presented why it turned out the way it did to them personally, he says.
In an interview with Sportbladet, Andersson said that Zlatan Ibrahimovic contacted him after the fight and jokingly said that the national team captain wants to overtake him in the “media table”.
Other national team players have also been contacted.
– There are several players who have contacted us. There has been full support and understanding that it turned out the way it did. I’ve had a huge response from a lot of people, but it’s not good for that. But there are many who have expressed support and understanding and I am grateful for that.
Even when you are shopping at Ica?
– Also there and also at Konsum because that’s where I usually shop. Yesterday I was at the Unicef gala and there were several people who expressed the same thing. I would have rather been without it, but now that it has become so, I have felt that there are many who have understood.
“Out of respect”
Viaplay’s press manager Fredrik S Johansson announces that Viaplay will not change its line-up regarding Sweden’s qualifying matches.
– We think that the national team deserves a good framework and therefore invest in over an hour’s preparatory studio, and then several votes are also required. It is with respect for the right and the viewers that we have three experts in the studio, with a great collective football knowledge and with different experiences. However, we field a smaller team around the training match against New Zealand, due to the fact that our studio time is shorter then and there is not as much at stake. We release our lineup closer to the matches, he says.
