Rachel Hazes and her former business partner and friend Marieke van Beek are going to investigate whether they can solve their conflict together. The two must inform the court no later than June 13 whether they have reached a settlement.
The Court of Appeal of Arnhem-Leeuwarden confirms this to NU.nl, after a conversation with Van Beek’s legal adviser Bernard Tomlow. Hazes and Van Beek went to court on Wednesday in a case that revolves around documents that Van Beek took with her after her employment with Hazes’ production company. Hazes wants the documents back, but Van Beek, who was the office manager of Hazes’ production company until March 1, 2020, refuses.
“Access to the documents is necessary for Van Beek, because otherwise she will not be able to defend herself in the total of four lawsuits that are currently being filed against her by Hazes,” says Tomlow in conversation with NU.nl.
The two parties have until June 13 to reach a joint solution. According to Tomlow, Hazes and Van Beek must look for an independent third party with whom the documents can be placed. They must also make agreements about who has access to which documents. Tomlow emphasizes that Van Beek only owns a back-up of the company mailbox, to which Hazes also has access.
Hazes rented a house to Van Beek
One of the other lawsuits concerns a house that Hazes bought and rented to Van Beek. According to Hazes, Van Beek paid far too little rent for the house. According to Tomlow, agreements have indeed been made about the rent and these agreements can be found in the documents that Van Beek owns.
There is more evidence in the documents, according to Tomlow. For example, Van Beek could use it to demonstrate that it had no plans to sell the production company, contrary to Hazes’ claims.
Van Beek is currently also involved in another lawsuit, together with Roxeanne Hazes and Rob Israël, Rachel’s former business partner. Hazes wants to hear about a power of attorney she provided when she had a breakdown in 2016.
