Protesters call for impeachment of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev

A protest against the head of state Rumen Radev is taking place in front of the presidential building. There are shouts for the president’s impeachment, protesters chanting “This is not Moscow”.

The reason for the dissatisfaction is the harsh tone of the president towards the PP-DB during the handing over of the second mandate to form a cabinet.

The protesters claim that “Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic and a full member of the EU and NATO, they support the country’s Euro-Atlantic orientation and state that the head of state has long shown that he does not work for the benefit of Bulgarian society and interests, but for Russian ones.”

Deputies from “We continue the change” also attended the protest, including Daniel Laurer and co-chairs Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev.

“We have to choose and decide what the Bulgarian national interest should be – to be in a prosperous Europe or to return to the USSR”, stated Asen Vassilev.
