Christodoulides made statements within the framework of the energy workshop

Alithia newspaper gave wide coverage to the workshop titled “The Cyprus Gateway: Natural Gas to Power and Liquefaction” organized by the Ministry of Energy and the statements of the President of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulidis.

According to the news, Christodoulides, who made a statement after the workshop, stated that the government’s goal is to add value to the evaluation of Southern Cyprus in energy.

Regarding the energy issue, Christodoulides also talked about three phenomena: high electricity prices in the local market, the efforts of the European Union to get rid of its dependence on natural gas from Russia, and Eastern Mediterranean perspectives due to the excellent relations that the Greek Cypriot Administration maintains with neighboring countries.

Stating that the government’s strategy is to bring these three facts together, with the primary target being the local market, Christodoulides also stated that the EU’s effort to get rid of its dependence on natural gas from Russia should be evaluated.

When the investors were asked why Southern Cyprus was preferred when there are two natural gas liquefaction terminals available in neighboring countries, Christodoulides stated that Southern Cyprus is an EU member that aims to offer added value to them.

When asked whether Chevron’s proposal is compatible with Southern Cyprus’s demand, Christodoulides described the development of a development plan as important and stated that Chevron expects comments on the proposal from them.

When asked whether there is constant coordination with Israel, Christodoulides stated that they are in talks with all governments.
