American has reduced its September schedule by more than 10,000 flights. The airline had 175,589 flights scheduled and now plans to operate 165,025. The Newark, NY to Chicago route had the largest reduction, with 62 fewer one-way flights.
On the other hand, American’s 139 scheduled flights between Washington and Portland, Maine, dropped to 54, representing a 38.8% drop on the route. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the most affected by this reduction in flights.
From the Charlotte terminal it has reduced flights to Charleston, Greensboro, Norfolk and Richmond. The Richmond route will have 22.9% fewer flights compared to the same month of 2022.
From Raleigh Durham International Airport, American will only operate to Tampa International Airport five times in September when it had 55 flights scheduled the week before.
as reported REPORTUR.us, after the federal court order to cancel the Northeast Alliance (NEA) of American and Jetblue in New York and Boston, will not affect passengers, since the sentence must be fulfilled in the next 30 days. (Outrage in American for canceling its alliance with Jetblue).
American’s chief financial officer, Devon May, said the NEA will not affect capacity in New York in the short term, so he projects that if there are any adjustments, they will be made in the long term.
