The Risks of Using Aluminum Foil for Cooking: According to The Food and Drug Authority

Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Food and Drug Authority said that the use of aluminum foil “tin” in cooking increases the chance of the aluminum element migrating to food, and it is not intended for cooking or heating food.

She indicated that its common uses are: “packaging some foods to protect them from drying out, losing flavors, or transferring odors to them.”

It is also used in: “Protecting foods from exposure to light that affects those that contain fats, such as chocolate and some sweets that can change their smell.”

And she stressed that aluminum foil cannot be used to cook or heat food, to preserve acidic or highly salty foods, to high temperatures inside the oven or to expose them directly to flames, microwave ovens and to replace them with utensils designated for that.

She explained that the use of aluminum foil is not harmful to health and safe if used in the right way, and its use for purposes not intended for it leads to food contamination.
