Around 25 NATO soldiers from the peacekeeping force KFOR have been injured after clashes in the northern part of Kosovo.

– Such attacks are completely unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. We ask all parties to engage in dialogue and avoid actions that could make the situation more inflamed, says a spokesperson for Nato.
Several soldiers from the Italian and Hungarian KFOR contingent suffered traumatic wounds with fractures and burns due to the explosion of fire equipment.
– The unprovoked attacks on NATO units are unacceptable and KFOR will continue to fulfill its mandate impartially, says KFOR chief Angelo Michele Ristuccia.
There is constant unrest in the northern districts, where many ethnic Serbs have never accepted that Kosovo broke away from Serbia and became independent in 2008. The vast majority of Kosovo’s 1.8 million inhabitants are ethnic Albanians.
