In January, it became known that Countess Alexandra (58) had lost her mother, who was also the grandmother of Count Nikolai (23) and Count Felix (20). Christa Manley was 89 years old.
The countess was with her two sisters with Manley when she fell asleep quietly inside her own home in Vienna.
– The conflict is not over
The family was in deep sorrow, and facing Danes Here & Now she speaks for the first time about the loss.
About the hard times
– She was almost 90 years old, and she died of old age. It was a very beautiful death. If there’s one thing we can be sure of in life, it’s that we all have to say goodbye to this place. And if you can wish for a beautiful death, she got it.
When she looked back at the last year and how it has been, she admitted that it had been difficult – but that now it seems as if things have loosened up.
– I have had better years, but now I feel brilliant, said the countess, who also thanked her friends for their support during the difficult time.
The mistress stands forward
There is little doubt that a lot has happened for Alexandra.
Life crisis
Last autumn it became known that Queen Margrethe had decided to remove the prince and princess titles from four of the grandchildren – namely Prince Joachim’s children. From 1 January 2023, Prince Nikolai, Prince Felix, Prince Henrik (14) and Princess Athena (11) became counts and countesses.
Prince Joachim (53) and Countess Alexandra share sons Nikolai and Felix, and both the parents and the affected grandchildren have come out and been honest that they were not thrilled about the title stripping.
Shortly after her mother’s death, Alexandra ended up in yet another life crisis. She and her boyfriend Nicolai Peitersen broke up, and the latter eventually came forward and admitted that he had been unfaithful.
