Boston Celtics and Miami Heat will meet this Monday at the TD Garden for the seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals series, in a match that will have Star+ transmission. The winner of this clash will be the rival of Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals that will begin on Thursday, June 1.
The Heat had started the series with three wins and were heading for a resounding victory in the playoffs, but the Celtics reacted in time and posted three straight wins to reach Game 7.
Boston is the fourth team that manages to level a series that was losing 3-0 and seeks to be the first in history to reverse that result, since in the previous 150 occasions the team that had started in advantage won.
The Celtics come off an agonizing victory on the road thanks to Derrick White’s double at the buzzer.
Celtics and Heat will face each other in a seventh game for the second year in a row and on exactly the same date (May 29). Two teams haven’t met in a Game 7 in back-to-back seasons since the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers in 1994 and 1995.
The Heat seek to access the Finals for the seventh time since 2006, when they made their debut in that instance and won their first title. Since that season, no team has managed to reach 7 Finals.
The Celtics, along with the Los Angeles Lakers the most winners in history with 17 championships each, will try to reach the Finals for the second consecutive year. In 2022 they fell to the Golden State Warriors 4-2.
