Drivers in the Russian Federation were told the optimal driving speed to save gasoline
The selected driving mode directly affects the consumption of already not cheap fuel. And many mistakenly believe that slow driving is more economical. Therefore, the magazine “Behind the wheel” decided to check how you can actually reduce gasoline consumption while driving.
The urban traffic cycle greatly increases fuel consumption due to frequent acceleration and stops at traffic lights, as well as traffic in traffic jams. However, it is the speed of 50-60 km / h, which is set in cities, that is more economical. In this case, it is recommended to quickly switch to a higher gear. If the car is equipped with a manual transmission, then it is better to keep the speed below the mark of 1,500 rpm.
When driving on country roads, the car struggles with strong oncoming air flows, which increase fuel consumption. But a speed of 80-90 km / h and a speed of 1200-1500 rpm will save a little. Inertia can be used to further improve fuel efficiency by driving in higher gears without stopping as much as possible.
