At 5:00 p.m. today, President Rumen Radev hands over the second exploratory mandate for forming a government to the parliamentary group of “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB).
Academician Nikolay Denkov is expected to receive the second mandate and propose a cabinet, for which support from GERB is relied upon.
Boyko Borissov’s party froze talks with the PP-DB on Saturday after the leaked recording of a PP meeting, but said it could resume them by insisting on new terms. In GERB, an option was launched for Maria Gabriel to be the first rotating prime minister, which was rejected by PP-DB.
In addition, GERB insists on having only experts in the cabinet, and the PP does not give up all political figures for now.
“We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” will have 7 days – until June 5 to propose to the president the composition and structure of the Council of Ministers or to return the mandate, unfulfilled.
