More than 940,000 new pensions were paid in 2022 by the general scheme, 21% of which were for survivors. The average retirement age is 63.1 years for personal pensions and 74.4 years for survivors.
In total, the Retirement Insurance granted, in 2022, 947,232 new pensions to former private sector employees, agricultural employees, public service contract employees and self-employed. 743,707 were on a personal basis and 203,525 on a survivor’s pension (with or without a personal pension). Women are in the majority, respectively 60% and 87%.
There are 135,272 retirees, 30% of whom are women, for long careers, i.e. 18% of personal pensions granted. There are 357,907 new retirees in 2022 with a full career under the general scheme (48% of personal pensions). The average amount of these pensions is €1,207 (€1,340 for men and €1,072 for women). 259,955 benefited from the 10% increase for children. These amounts do not include supplementary pensions (Agirc-Arrco, Ircantec, etc.). 68,773 were awarded the Aspa (minimum old age).
The average ages at which pensions are granted are 63.1 years for personal retirement (62.8 years for men and 63.3 years for women). The survivor’s pension is, by construction, paid at a higher age of 74.4 years (men: 76.3 years, women: 74.2 years).
