EDITORIAL.- The National Association of Nursing and Vaccines (Anenvac) has presented the Practical Manual of Nursing and Vaccinespublished by AmazingBooks, in collaboration with GSK.
The objective of this document is to collaborate in the training and continuous updating of nurses to be able to offer professionalism and knowledge to the population, as well as the administration of immunogens safely and efficiently before, during and after vaccination, for the sake of to improve adherence to vaccines and, with the programs, contribute against vaccine-preventable diseases and achieve high coverage.
Likewise, this work seeks to bring the world of vaccines closer to all nurses, and raise awareness of the importance we have and the value they bring both as vaccinating nurses and managing nurses, seeking to approach management and decision-making positions in the programs vaccinate.
Change of concept
“We are witnessing a change in the concept of immunizations, from childhood vaccination schedules to the current vaccination schedule throughout life. This paradigm shift reflects the current situation, vaccines are for everyone and throughout life. Every person is susceptible to a vaccination recommendation. Improving the quality of life, preventing diseases and their complications, and protecting health is the fundamental objective of nursing care, which is why immunizations are a very important part of nurses’ actions with people of all ages, but every day with more elderly people suffering from comorbidities and immune compromises, due to pathologies or simply due to age”, affirm the directors of the manual José Antonio Forcada and Inmaculada Cuesta, president and secretary of Anenvac, respectively.
