“Forest Fire Reported in Modum, Yellow Warning Issued for Eastern Norway and Agder”

There is a fire in a forest in Modum, the Sør-East police district reports. There is a risk of spreading, but it is unknown whether there are people in the area.

– The scope is still unclear for the time being, says duty manager Joachim Rakvåg in Sør-East 110 to VG at 3.45pm.

It is also unknown whether there is a risk of spreading to buildings, but there is currently no need for evacuation, the police report.

On Twitter, the Operations Manager reports that the scope as of now is approx. 4-500 meters wide and 100 meters long, at Søndre and Nordre Langsjø.

– We have just located the fire and are trying to map the extent, says operations manager Victoria Hillveg to VG.

A helicopter is in place and the fire service is working on the scene.

– It is dry and very windy, says Hillveg.

It has been sent out yellow hazard warning for forest fires in Eastern Norway and parts of Agder this weekend.
