The development of robot technology is increasing rapidly and it seems designed to take over human tasks, such as this snake robot. Photo/Techcrunch.
Robots can carry heavy loads, perform repetitive and tedious tasks, and perform stressful jobs. They are willing to crawl into hard-to-reach locations for research, medical applications, or disaster recovery, to military combat duties.
Here’s 5 strange robots that have ever been made but have a very useful role to help human tasks, summarized from the pages of Popular Mechanics, endgadget, and Live Science, Sunday (28/5/2023).
1. Nanobot
It sounds like science fiction, but nanobots are robots that are injected into the human body and travel through tiny cell vessels. Designed at Cornell University, the tiny four-legged robot is designed to deliver drugs directly to wounds or tumors.
Currently, their only source of energy is solar energy, so they can’t be used inside the body yet, but that could change. Researchers say it can use magnetic fields, or ultrasound, for controllers, sensors and clocks. The nanobots are made from 4-inch wafers of special silicon composite, then each 70 microns long or the width of a human hair.
2. SlothBot
As you might have guessed from its name, SlothBot moves very slowly. However, its easygoing and sluggish Mover helps the robot avoid suspicion and carry out its mission.
