“Putin orders increased border security for swift movement of Russian military and civilians in Ukraine”

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered increased border security, Reuters reports.

The aim is to ensure the “rapid” movement of Russian military and civilians in the Ukrainian regions currently under Moscow’s control.

In a congratulatory address to the border service – a branch of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) on the occasion of Border Guard Day, Putin emphasized that their task is to “reliably cover” the lines near the combat zone.

In recent weeks, attacks on Russian territory have become more frequent. Although drone strikes are mostly carried out in border regions, more and more such are also taking place deep inside the country – yesterday an oil pipeline was struck northwest of Moscow.

“It is necessary to ensure the rapid movement of both military and civilian vehicles and cargo, such as food, construction materials for humanitarian aid, sent to the new subjects of the Russian Federation,” Putin insisted in a message published on the Kremlin channel in “Telegram”.

Vzrivovo and Berdyansk

Kherson, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Donetsk are the four regions in Ukraine that Putin announced to annex in September 2022. after holding fictitious referendums according to Kiev. However, Russian forces only partially control the four regions.

Officials said yesterday that three people were injured in Ukrainian shelling in Belgorod, a region targeted by pro-Ukraine fighters this week. The attacks raised doubts about Russia’s defense and military capabilities.

Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions, bordering Ukraine, are the most frequent targets of attacks that damage energy, rail and military infrastructure. Local authorities blame Ukraine for the attacks.

Although Kiev almost never takes responsibility publicly for attacks in Russia and on territory controlled by Russian forces in Ukraine, said the destruction of infrastructure was in preparation for a planned counteroffensive.

Ukraine announced yesterday that it was ready to launch a long-awaited counter-offensive to retake territory seized from Russia in the 15-month war, a conflict that has killed thousands and reduced Ukrainian cities to rubble.
