Motorola has confirmed the launch of new foldable smartphones on the 1st of June. Thanks to multiple leaks, we already know that the company is coming with two foldable smartphones and not just one. These new devices will be a continuation of the Motorola RAZR series, but at the same time they are a new beginning. The new devices are expected to be launched as Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. The new naming will give more importance to the RAZR series and will match the company’s Edge generation. This year we had the Motorola Edge 40 series, and then the RAZR 40 series. While we’ve heard a lot about the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, the information is a bit vague when it comes to the vanilla formula. Today, some of his specifications were Certain by appearance On Geekbench benchmark and 3C certification.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, 33W fast charging confirmed
The new details basically confirm what we have come to expect from the Motorola Razr 40. It will be a less premium foldable smartphone and it will cost less than its Ultra sibling. Thanks to the leaked images, we already know that the phone will be closer to the Moto RAZR 2022 in terms of design. It will not bring a larger external screen like the Ultra variant.
Now, the Geekbench benchmark confirms that we are seeing mid-range performance with the first-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 7. The phone features model number XT2323-3 on Geekbench and 3C certifications. Besides the CPU, Geekbench also confirms 12GB of RAM. Finally, it will run on Android 13.
When it comes to the 3C certification, the listing confirms that the phone will bring 33W fast charging. It is far from the fastest charging standards we see nowadays. However, this is more than what Samsung currently offers and will offer with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip5.
Samsung’s foldable has to be one of Motorola’s more significant competitors, and even with its “lower premium” fold, the company would beat the 25W foldable charging case.
Motorola Razr 40 – The first mid-range foldable phone
According to the leaked prices, the phone will be sold at approximately €899 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This makes it the cheapest foldable smartphone ever. For those who don’t mind a mid-range CPU, it would be a great opportunity to finally try out the clamshell’s foldability. Looking at the Moto Razr 40 Ultra’s leaked price, the vanilla one will cost €300 less. Other details are still unclear. However, we expect this phone to be the closest to the “first mid-range foldable smartphone”.
Given that the launch of both phones is imminent (June 1), we’ll stay tuned to see if more details are leaked in the coming days.
Razer 40 Ultra
If you are interested in the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, the higher end model is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The phone will also start with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The chipset will be behind the likes of the Galaxy Z Flip5 that is set to bring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, with a price tag of around €1,200, a massive 3,800mAh battery with 33W charging, and a 13MP ultrawide camera + 12MP combo With OIS, Motorola can probably expect this phone to sell well.
