Rainbow Fest and Rainbow Run in Ostrava: The Most Colorful Event of the Year

Although the first year in Ostrava took place eight years ago, Rainbow Fest, which evolved from the original Rainbow Run, is still a bit of a crazy event for many. And it is no different this time as well, with the year, which is accompanied by several novelties.

First, tickets were sold separately for the festival with the option of purchasing a running route. Then it also takes place in a different part of Dolní Vítkovice than usual, in the area between the Bolt Tower and the Gong, because the pitch for the well-known beach volleyball event Ostrava Beach Pro is already being prepared. In addition, the National Agricultural Museum also held a Wine Festival at the same time, in short, life is not worth living in Dolní Vítkovice.

The first half of the program was called the Rainbow Run, where visitors could choose from a one-, two- or five-kilometer course. Although in reality it was a little different. When the runners on the longest course reached the fourth kilometer, they were stopped by hostesses and medals hung around their necks. Many looked on in surprise, even the hostesses told the runners that the plan was a 5.5 kilometer long track. “And I was just starting to warm up,” could be heard in the crowd of runners. “I didn’t have to be so frugal,” retorted another. “We don’t know what happened,” the hostesses reported.

In the end, nobody really minded. There was entertainment to be had. And not only fun, but also nice gestures. As usual, the organizers auctioned the painted canvas for charitable purposes, this time for exactly 50 thousand crowns.

By that time, the program was already held under the banner of Rainbow Fest, which was started by Eliška Rusková as a stand-in for the indisposed Ben Cristova. The visitors will be completely wild during these moments by Seastian, who will be followed up tonight by Leoš Mareš and at the after-party by the host of the program, DJ Lowa.
