“Huurscooter parked in the ditch: Fire brigade called in Monster”

Monster 27.05.2023 – The Monster en Loosduinen fire brigade received a report of a person in the water at the Santhorsthof in Monster on Saturday afternoon around 2.30 pm.

When the police and fire brigade arrived, it turned out that a rental scooter was standing upright in the ditch up to the steering wheel. Firefighters in waders did not find anyone in the ditch, after which the scooter had to be removed from the water.

According to a resident, she had called the police on Friday evening around 7:30 p.m., because the scooter was already in the water by then. Because upon further inquiry no person could be seen near the scooter, the woman was advised to call the municipality.

As a result, the emergency services were alerted for the second time on Saturday afternoon. A helpful neighbor helped the fire brigade with a forklift to hoist the scooter out. After this wet adventure, the alarm on the electric scooter still worked. Perhaps it is now waiting for a battery fire, a bystander joked.
