The American network “News 5 Cleveland” revealed that Sarah Shendi became the first Egyptian Muslim police sergeant in the state of Ohio.
For more than 15 years, Sarah Shindy of Northeast Ohio has dedicated her life to law enforcement, the network said, and shared her success story in an effort to inspire young people to pursue a career in community service as police officers.
And on May 24, Shendi achieved another milestone, swearing in with the Case Western Reserve University Police Department and becoming the first Muslim Egyptian police sergeant in Ohio.
Shendi told News5 that it is an honor to serve and protect more than 12,000 students and 3,600 staff on campus.

Chief Paul Owens of Case Western Reserve University’s Department of Public Safety told News5 that he believes Sergeant Shendi will be a huge boost for the police department and the entire campus.
Shendi said campus safety will be one of her primary messages to students.
Shendi said, “We are very interested in connecting with students, visitors and faculty here, but not only with leadership, but we are very keen on patrols. We have students here from 102 different countries, and other things here that may be different for them.”
