The Casa de las Ciencias closes this Sunday the exhibition ‘Great Women in Plastihistory’, which pays tribute to 20 leading women in the history of humanity from different eras. The exhibition has been open since last February and has had numerous visits from schools and audiences of all ages.

The exhibition ‘Great Women in Plastihistory’, which has been open since February 7 and will close on May 28, has been handcrafted by the Educa Foundation with school plasticine.

It presents relevant women from the five continents and from different eras, from Prehistory to the 21st century, who have excelled in disciplines as diverse as painting, art, music, literature, science, politics, sports and even legendary heroines.

It includes from the 3.5 million-year-old fossil of Lucy, to the first woman to go into space: Valentina Tereshkova, passing through Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Isabel la Católica, Frida Kahlo, Agustina de Aragón or Teresa de Calcutta. , the Greek poet Sappho of Mytilene and the Chinese Empress Wu Zetian, the only one who reigned as sovereign.

It also welcomes the first mathematician, Hypatia de Alejandra; the German prophetess, physician, composer and writer Saint Hildegard of Bingen, one of the most influential women of the Late Middle Ages; the Italian Sofonisba Anguissola, established in the court of Felipe II and who is considered the first successful woman painter of the Renaissance.

The list of great women in this exhibition is completed with Bárbara Strozzi, Luisa la Roldana, Florence Nightingale, “Harvard computers”, Santa Teresa de Jesús, Montserrat Caball and Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast to obtain a 10-point rating. in an Olympic artistic gymnastics competition.

This unique exhibition in the world is made up of 20 scenes made of common plasticine and complemented with other materials, such as paper, wood, foam board and beads.

During the months that the exhibition has been open, the exhibition hall has had a workshop area in which the people who have visited the exhibition have been able to model their own dioramas and figures, works that have also been exhibited on some shelves inside. of the exhibition.
