“The Crisis at Swiss Red Cross: Responsibility and Fresh Start Needed”

In places, the investigative report on what was happening at the head of the Swiss Red Cross (SRK) reads like the screenplay for a Netflix series entitled “Bleeding Hearts – bad do-gooders”. The sudden separation from the director was opaque, inhuman and unprofessional, it says. The President of the Red Cross Council, the former Zurich CVP National Councilor Barbara Schmid-Federer, has never officially confronted the ousted director with the allegations against him, and she has not even tried to improve the situation. The behavior of the President within the Red Cross Council and in particular towards the director shows little suitability and will to lead. In addition, she lacked the courage to face challenging and uncomfortable situations.
