KYIV (Agence France-Presse) – All missiles were intercepted and destroyed in a nighttime airstrike by the Russian military in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, military officials said today.
Kiev’s military authorities posted on the Telegram account of the communication software that “Kiev has suffered another air strike, the 13th since the beginning of May! As usual, it was launched at night.”
The article pointed out that the Russian Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bomber group from the Caspian Sea region in southern Russia fired cruise missiles at Kiev.
“According to preliminary information, all enemy targets in Kiev airspace have been detected and destroyed,” the post said, adding that there were no reports of casualties or battle damage.
The Ukrainian General Staff said in a daily morning briefing that the Russian military had launched 55 air strikes in the past day, 36 of which were by drones loaded with explosives, and four missile attacks.
“An S-300 missile hit a dam in Karlivka in the Donetsk region,” the briefing said, posing a high risk of flooding to surrounding settlements.
