“Astronomers Spot Giant Sunspot Four Times Earth’s Size Visible with Naked Eye: How to Look Safely”

SEOUL – A point in Sun four times the size of Earth can be seen with the naked eye. It can change the outer space weather around the planet, affecting satellites, power lines and other technology.

As reported by Science Alert Saturday (27/5/2023), South Korean astronomer Yeom Bum-suk advises amateur astronomers to wear eclipse glasses to block 100 percent of the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) and infrared rays to protect the eyes.

“The giant dot is crossing the Sun and I can see it clearly with my sun glasses,” he said.

He added: “Be careful! You should use eclipse glasses or sun filters to protect your eyes.”

Astronomers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Nebraska took this picture of the Sunspot last Monday, according to news portal spaceweather.com.

Sun fans can buy sunglasses online and make sure to get them through the official website.

Sunspots are temporary phenomena in the sun’s photosphere that appear as dark spots compared to the surrounding area.

Even before using the Inouye Solar Telescope was the largest and most powerful in the world. The telescope doesn’t just get incredibly detailed images of the sun.

after more than a year of observations, at least eight photographs have been obtained showing a number of activities taking place in the center of the solar system.

One of the photos focuses on the photosphere, the region commonly referred to as the surface of the Sun. The photos show areas of the Sun mostly calm with some areas that are more active than usual.

Hotter plasma rises from the Sun’s interior, creating lighter spots, with cooler plasma forming a slightly darker streak between each cell.
