Jakarta –
Shell open their voice in response to the statement of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif who said the company was withdrawing but was not responsible for the Masela Block. Arifin Tasrif made this statement because Shell has never relinquished its participating rights in the block.
Shell Indonesia’s VP Corporate Relations, Susi Hutapea, said that her party could not comment on the ongoing process.
“We’re sorry we can’t comment on ongoing portfolio activity,” he told detikcomFriday (26/5/2023).
Arifin Tasrif previously expressed his annoyance with Shell because it had not relinquished its participating rights in the Masela Block. Currently, Shell is negotiating with PT Pertamina (Persero).
Arifin Tasrif said that Indonesia was at a disadvantage because the Masela Block had not been worked on. He then said that Shell had stepped down but was not responsible.
“And also now it’s Indonesia who feels aggrieved, we don’t want this to happen. Inpex is serious, but I don’t know that Shell has resigned but is irresponsible,” he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta.
“What’s wrong? If you don’t want it, it’s okay,” he continued.
