OUTPOST – In swimming pool De Kûpe in Buitenpost, Izaak and Gerke obtained the B diploma this week. Not so special you might say, but Gerke is 69 years old and Izaak is 75 years old.
Gerke, resident of Feanwâlden: “I used to have a traumatic experience and therefore I no longer felt confident in the water. To get rid of my fear of water, I took swimming lessons. I would like to inspire the elderly to keep moving and swimming is the ideal way.”
Swimming pool de Kûpe is proud of Izaak and Gerke, a confirmation and example that despite their age they can still learn to swim and no longer have to be afraid of water.
