PlayStation and Haven Studios, the studio founded by Jade Raymond, formerly of Ubisoft, have announced the development of a new game for PC and PlayStation 5 called Fairgame$. The announcement was made during the PlayStation Showcase this Wednesday (24), although gameplay footage has not yet been presented.
What to expect from Fairgame$
This new intellectual property had been mentioned since Sony’s acquisition of Haven Studios in mid-2022. At the time, Jade Raymond described the project as a “modern multiplayer experience that brings players together in a positive and meaningful way”.
The first teaser shows a group of rebels breaking into what appears to be a futuristic bank to retrieve their riches. When facing resistance, they use a variety of equipment, including firearms, shields, and smoke bombs, to gain the upper hand in combat.
This launch seems to align with Sony’s strategy to invest more in games as a service, such as the acquisition of Bungie, developer of Destiny, last year. However, many of these projects have yet to be announced.
What’s next for Fairgame$
Fairgame$ does not yet have gameplay details or a release date. More information is expected to be released during the Summer Game Fest announcement season, which begins on June 8th, bringing news from a variety of publishers and developers.
