“Paramount+ Announces Price Increase for New Premium Plan with Showtime Integration in US”

From June 27, Paramount+ will increase its prices in the United States due to the launch of the new formula integrating Showtime content into the platform. This new premium plan will cost $11.99 per month, which is $2 more than the existing premium plan that will disappear.

On the sidelines of the presentation of its results for the last quarter of 2022, the Paramount group announced that it was going to increase the prices of its Paramount + platform in several markets due to the merger with Showtime. And the United States will be the first to be affected since the platform will cost more from June 27.

Indeed, it is on this date that the group will launch the new Paramount+ with Showtime formula, which will therefore integrate the many contents of the American studio such as Homeland, Dexter et Californication.

+ 2 dollars on the formula without ads

Both subscription plans are affected by this increase. The formula with advertisements will go from 4.99 to 5.99 dollars per month, while the premium formula including Showtime will go from 9.99 to 11.99 dollars per month, or 2 dollars more. The previous premium plan billed at $9.99 per month and only including Paramount+ content will be removed to make way for the new one.

At the same time, the Paramount group specifies that it will permanently close its Showtime application and that the channel will be renamed Paramount+ with Showtime by the end of the year.

Towards an increase in tariffs in France?

For its part, France is not affected by this price increase since Showtime content is already integrated into Paramount+ in our region. The video on demand service is offered via a single formula billed at 7.99 euros per month or 79.90 euros per year, the platform still does not offer a formula with advertising in our regions.

But French subscribers are not immune to a potential future increase in platform prices. It has, in fact, become customary for streaming platforms to increase their prices in their home market first, often the United States, before doing so in their other markets. It is therefore likely that by next year the subscription formula to Paramount + will take a few euros.
