Olympic champion and three-time high jump world champion Maria Lasitskene said that she no longer hopes to compete in international competitions, but she is not ready to end her career yet. The words of the athlete leads “RIA Novosti”.

The jumper takes part in the Russian team championship in Sochi, where she came second with a score of 1.88 m.

“I consider my international career to be over. Everything has been decided long ago, no matter what we do, I think we are not expected there. I don’t have any hopes. I’m just not ready to retire yet. I want to jump more,” Lasitskene said in the mixed zone.

After these words, the athlete began to cry and was able to continue communicating with reporters only after a few minutes.

Lasitskene is the champion of the Tokyo Games, three-time world champion (2015, 2017, 2019), European champion (2018).

The Council of the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) reinstated the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (ARAF) in March after a seven-year suspension, but Russian athletes are still unable to compete internationally due to the situation in Ukraine.
