Three people died and one person was injured in the incident shooting and stabbing at Japan on Thursday (25/5). The perpetrator reportedly barricaded himself in a building.
Reported by the news agency ReutersThursday (25/5/2023), Japan’s national television, NHK reported that a man dressed in camouflage stabbed a woman with a knife and fired a hunting rifle in Nagano prefecture, central Japan.
There are no further details regarding the incident.
NHK reported that two police officers were also killed, and one person was injured in the incident. It is not yet clear whether they were stabbed or shot.
Crimes involving weapons are extremely rare in Japan. In the country, gun ownership is strictly regulated and anyone wishing to own a gun must go through a rigorous process before a permit is granted.
