Fraud and Embezzlement of Funds in SMAN 21 Bandung Study Tour Case: Perpetrator Arrested

Case of embezzlement of funds study tour SMAN 21 Bandung has been reported to the police. The perpetrator with the initials CL, who is female, has now been arrested.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono said CL was arrested in Cilengkrang, Bandung, Wednesday (24/5) at around 23.00 WIB. He was arrested after allegedly carrying away the money study tour SMAN 21 Bandung worth IDR 400 million.

“We have secured the perpetrator, the initials CL, who is suspected of committing fraud or embezzlement of money travel for the activities of the children of SMAN 21 Bandung to Jogja,” said Budi to reporters at the Bandung Police Headquarters, Jl Merdeka, reported detikjabarThursday (25/5/2023).

Budi said the perpetrator was an employee freelance at Grand Travel Indonesia (GTI). His party is currently still examining the case in depth at the Bandung Polrestabes.

“Today we will carry out an in-depth examination at the Polrestabes. We will trace the money everywhere, what was the motive, so the person concerned embezzled the money,” he concluded.

Previously it was reported that hundreds of class XI students at SMAN 21 Bandung failed to leave study tour. Wednesday (24/5/2023) morning they held a demonstration, because that afternoon the students failed to leave study tour to Yogyakarta.

The hundreds of students who canceled their departure amounted to 320 people and had paid contributions of Rp. 1.3 million. If accumulated, the total loss reached IDR 419 million.
