The Czech government on Wednesday approved an agreement for the purchase of 246 CV 90 tracked infantry fighting vehicles worth 59.7 billion CZK (2.52 billion euros) as part of an intergovernmental agreement with Sweden.

First Czech Republic planned to receive 210 CV 90 carsbut due to rising equipment prices, decided to purchase an additional 36 machines.
Equipment, according to the contract, will be manufactured in cooperation with Czech companies. Their share in production must be at least 40% of the contract value, otherwise sanctions will be applied.
According to the Czech media, this is the largest military purchase in the modern history of the Czech Republic and one of the largest government contracts in history.
According to Czech Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova, the first infantry fighting vehicles may arrive as early as 2026, and the contract will be completed in full by 2030.
CV90 infantry fighting vehicles manufactured by the Swedish company Hägglunds are in service with 17 European countries, including five NATO members. Recently about intentions to buy them Slovakia also announced.
