Indonesian Citizens Deported from Japan for Rules Violation of ‘Shot’ Shinkansen Ticket

Jakarta

The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo spoke about the viral news that eight Indonesian citizens (WNI) had been deported due to ‘shot‘ car ticket Shinkansen. The Indonesian Embassy reminded Indonesian citizens to always follow the rules of any country.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo always urges Indonesian citizens who are in Japan to comply with the applicable rules and regulations,” said the Coordinator of the Information, Social and Cultural Functions of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Meinarti Fauzie, reported BetweenWednesday, (24/5/2023).

The news went viral on social media Instagram and TikTok. The eight Indonesian citizens were said to have been monitored by surveillance cameras crossing ticketing gate in an inappropriate manner at a station.

They allegedly did not pay for the Shinkansen high-speed train tickets according to the price, otherwise known as ‘shooting’ tickets. Only one person bought the official ticket, the rest barged in.

In another video, a number of Indonesian citizens who will be passengers on the Shinkansen are questioned by station officials regarding the action.

Meinarti also reminded that local officials in Japan have the right to take action and process the law if a foreign national violates the rules.

However, until now Meinarti has not found any news in the mainstream media in Japan, nor has she received any information from related parties about the case.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is still tracing the truth of the information from the news circulating on social media by tracing official reports in Japan, both from Japanese and English-language media, as well as communicating with related parties,” he said.

The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo also uploaded an appeal to Indonesian citizens in Japan to comply with local regulations.

“Where the earth is stepped on, there the sky is upheld,” said the Indonesian Embassy.
