The Baltic Dance Platform, which is the largest contemporary dance event in the Baltic States, will be held in Riga for the first time from February 9 to February 11 next year. The submitted works will be evaluated by an international jury consisting of five experts.
In total, 77 eligible applications were submitted in two categories: full dance performance and project presentation. Three performances and five presentations will be selected from each Baltic country to participate in the event. The results will be announced on June 20.
The jury of “Baltijas Dejas platformas 2024” consists of art and culture manager, curator Julia Asperska from Poland, artist Pedro Barreiro from Portugal, choreographer, dancer, artistic director of the contemporary dance festival “Full Moon Dance” Johanna Ikola from Finland, contemporary performing arts artist Bushs Hartshorn from Great Britain, curator and producer Gergejs Tallo from Hungary.
The Baltic Dance Platform is an event jointly created by Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, the purpose of which is to introduce the dance art of all three Baltic countries, as well as to provide an opportunity for local artists to gain more attention at the international level and to make new contacts with dance representatives from all over the world.
So far, the event took place in 2019 in Vilnius, Lithuania, and in 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia.
