The tragedy occurred in the Californian city of Rocklin. The 41-year-old man tried to help the ducklings who were at the crossroads, police said in a statement.
“He got out of the car and scared the ducks away and everyone clapped because he was so cute <…> He helped them climb over the curb, because all the little ducklings had problems in front of our car, ”said a 12-year-old boy who turned out to be an eyewitness.
The 17-year-old girl who hit the man to death remained at the scene. According to nbcnews, she is not going to face any criminal charges.
The TV channel notes that the duck and ducklings were not injured in the accident.
