Illness genital warts can be transmitted through the use of shared or public toilets that are not clean. Even though the case is rare, you still need to be vigilant.

Genital warts is one of them sexually transmitted disease what to watch out for. This disease is caused by several types of infection Human papillomavirus (HPV) which is commonly known to cause cervical cancer.

There are many types of HPV. Some of them cause genital warts.

A venereology dermatologist at the Pramudia Clinic Amelia Setiawati Soebyanto said that although the possibility is very small, HPV can transmit genital warts through the use of unclean shared toilets.

“It could be from the toilet, especially the toilet seat and the water sprayer, able to, can stick in the vagina. If there is a virus, it can spread,” said Amelia in a press conference on genital warts that was held at the Akmani Hotel, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (23/5).

Therefore, Amelia recommends that you always maintain cleanliness when using a shared or public toilet. For example, always clean the toilet you want to use with soap or alcohol available in the bathroom first.

Amelia also requested that toilet users always wash their hands before and after using the toilet. This is important so that bacteria and viruses can disappear and not enter the body.

“It is recommended that you wash your hands before and after that. The toilet is a hotbed for germs and viruses, and it can be transmitted to the toilet seat, dipper, toilet spray too, transmission can occur, although it rarely happens,” he said.

In addition, Amelia also reminded the public to vaccinate against HPV. In addition to preventing genital warts, this vaccine can also reduce the risk of cervical cancer in women.

“The HPV vaccine is very important and should be done as early as possible,” he said.

Apart from vaccinations, being honest and loyal to your partner is also important. The reason is, the habit of changing partners has the potential to transmit this disease.

“Just one partner and not changing sex partners, especially without protection,” said Amelia about genital warts.
