Cameroon: Thirty demonstrators kidnapped in the West – AGP

LIBREVILLE, May 23 (AGP)- This Tuesday, the Cameroonian authorities certified in a press release published by the prefecture of the department of Mezam, that on Saturday May 20, around thirty women were “severely tortured and abducted by armed terroristssin the village of Kedjom Keku, in the North West region.

The latter were demonstrating against their abuses in western Cameroon, the scene of a deadly conflict for more than six years between separatists from the English-speaking minority and the police. THEArmed separatist groups frequently kidnap civilians, mainly for ransom.

The authorities always designate by the word “terroriststhe armed rebels who demand independence for the North West and South West regions, populated mainly by the English-speaking minority of this predominantly French-speaking Central African country.
