The leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik, arrived in Moscow on a visit and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite harsh criticism from the EU.
This is reported “European Truth” with reference to Sky News.
The content of the meeting is still unknown, but there is speculation that during Dodik’s stay in the Kremlin they will discuss prices for gas and gas pipelines.
There is no information about the meeting on the Kremlin website yet. A Russian presidential spokesman confirmed earlier Tuesday that Putin would meet with Dodik.
As you know, Dodik maintains close relations with Russia and Putin. Dodik, who is president of the Republika Srpska, said last week he was going to Moscow to discuss economic cooperation with Putin and what he says is Western pressure on the region. He will also present Putin with the medal he awarded the Russian president in absentia in January.
In 2022, the US imposed sanctions on Dodik due to his ties to Russia.
Former European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Policy Oliver Varhelyi warned Bosnia and Herzegovinawhich claims to join the EU, that EU allies do not visit Russia, referring to Dodik’s announced visit to Moscow.
Recall that Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó promised to protect Dodik from any sanctions.
