“Discovering the Faroe Islands: A Paradise for Hikers, Nature Enthusiasts, and Birdwatchers”

In May 2019, TourMaG traveled to the Faroe Islands aboard an Atlantic Airways aircraft. Our journalist was able to discover a taste of the destination.

Lovers of hiking, raw and grandiose nature, forgotten destinations and ornithology, will find their paradise there.

They will discover there, as lost halfway between Iceland and the Norwegian coasts, steep fjords, desolate moors, Nordic houses with green roofs, all in a characteristic smell of meat and fermented fish.

To have :

– Tórshavn: the tiny capital of the Faroes is worth the detour

– The almost uninhabited islands: ‘island of Lítla Dímun, Koltur, Hestur (21 inhabitants) or Stóra Dímun (10 inhabitants) and Nólsoy

– Gásadalur: perched village waterfall and cliff

– A meal at Koks, two Michelin stars

– A boat trip: from the village of Vestmanna, heading north of the archipelago to discover incredible caves at the foot of the cliffs
