Recently, Steve Bowers was going for a walk in the coastal town of Aberdyfi in North Wales.
Darkness was just about to fall when he discovered a gigantic being feeling on the shore.
Next to the creature lay three smaller, and not as fearsome, creatures.
Bowers was quick to find his mobile phone, and took a picture of the beast.
– Cancels the trip
Newspaper North Wales Live describes Bowers’ findings spectacularly:
– It looked as if the gelatinous giant had dragged himself up into the sand together with three others. This was like the vanguard of an alien army.
Death threats after this
Bowers posted the photo on social media, and it didn’t take long before comments from home and abroad started to trickle in.
– OMG! I will never swim again, wrote one.
– I am canceling the trip now, wrote an English man who has planned to travel to Wales.
– This was a scary lump of jelly, wrote one.

Taking it easy
Despite the fact that the comment section has boiled, Steve Bowers has taken it all in stoic calm.
He claims that the creature on the shore, which he estimates was around 60 centimeters in diameter, is simply a lung jellyfish.
In the North Sea and, among other things, around the British Isles, it is found according to Large Norwegian encyclopedia a blue lung jellyfish, Rhizostoma octopus, which can be up to 50 centimeters in diameter.
Completely harmless
Despite not being very cute, lung jellyfish are usually completely harmless – despite the fact that they can sting a bit.
– This was just a larger version of the smaller “standard” gray ones that were next to it. Its redness was quite unusual. I have never seen anything like it, says Steve Bowers to the local newspaper.

Biggest he’s seen
Bowers says that he regularly walks on the beach, and that he constantly sees jellyfish.
– … but this is the biggest one I’ve seen. I was really surprised, he says.
