The investigation follows a television report showing Geshev lighting a cigar and possibly in his office at the Courthouse.

“In connection with carrying out an inspection to establish a violation pursuant to Art. 56 of the Health Act, SG No. No. 70/2004, amended and add. DV. 8/2023, please provide us with an excerpt from bTV Novinitte – Central broadcast, broadcast on May 18, 2023, regarding the matter related to the activity of the Supreme Judicial Council”, RZI informs in its letter.

According to Art. 56 of the Health Law prohibits smoking in closed public places – in the premises with separate workplaces where work is done, as well as in the premises with auxiliary and service purposes.

The law states that, as an exception, smoking is permitted in designated private rooms located in airport buildings.
