“US State Department and Prime Minister Najib Mikati Condemn Hezbollah’s Military Maneuvers”

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller described “Hezbollah” as a “terrorist organization”, announcing Washington’s support for Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s words regarding the military exercises held by the party last Sunday.

Miller said in a statement today, Monday: “We consider Hezbollah a terrorist organization, and we support what the prime minister said that these maneuvers constitute a diminution of the state’s authority and sovereignty.”

It is noteworthy that Mikati met this morning with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronica, at the Grand Serail, and in response to Wronica’s inquiry about the maneuver that Hezbollah carried out yesterday, the Prime Minister said, “The Lebanese government rejects any appearance that constitutes a diminution of the state’s authority and sovereignty. However, the problem related to the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons in particular is related to a reality that requires a comprehensive national consensus, which must be a priority for the next stage.At the present time, the government is stressing on preserving security stability on all Lebanese territory and not taking any action that may destabilize it.
