“Yuen Long Chainsaw Murder: Police Identify 40-Year-Old Stepson as Suspect”

The Yuen Long chainsaw murder case has a breakthrough! The police identified the suspect as a 40-year-old man, but he has fled the country and his whereabouts are unknown for the time being. According to sources, the suspect is the stepson of the deceased.

Yesterday afternoon, the police explained the latest details of the chainsaw murder case on Kam Pok Road, Yuen Long. Superintendent Dai Yulin, Criminal Deployment Superintendent of Yuen Long Police District, said that the police identified the suspect as a 40-year-old man, and initially learned that he knew each other with the deceased woman. He left the country immediately, and his absconded whereabouts are currently unknown. According to sources, the suspect is the stepson of the deceased who left the country via the airport after the incident.

The police revealed that the female deceased was a 54-year-old woman surnamed Liu, a housewife who lived with her husband and a helper in a village house near the crime scene. Ms. Liu left home for a walk at 7:00 p.m. on the night of the incident. When she arrived at the scene of the incident, she was attacked from behind by a man in black holding an object. The man then fled towards the Tammi section of Castle Peak Road in Yuen Long. The police then conducted a large-scale search and found a blue, 45cm-long chainsaw, 30cm-long knife, and white sun protection sleeves in the grass 30 meters away from the scene, all stained with blood, suspected to be related to the case.

The deceased suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck, hands, abdomen and chest

The police believe that the deceased suffered multiple cuts on the neck and wrists, among which the neck injury is expected to be fatal; there are also multiple suspected stab wounds on the abdomen and chest, which may not be ruled out as fatal injuries; the detailed cause of death will be subject to forensic autopsy to be sure.

The police stated that they will continue to investigate, including the suspect’s motive for the murder, whether there are personnel who assisted or abetted the crime, and assisted the suspect to escape from the scene or Hong Kong. The police also appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident on Kam Pok Road, Yuen Long during the time of the incident, that is, around 7:00 p.m. last Saturday, or could provide relevant information, to contact the police at 3661 4641. The husband of the deceased and a number of relatives and friends were accompanied by detectives to the Fushan Public Mortuary in Shatin yesterday morning for the formalities of identifying the body.
