- Vaccines will be applied against various diseases, such as measles, rubella, mumps (SRP), Hepatitis B, rotavirus, pneumococcus, tetanus, among others.
The Ministry of Health (SEDESA), through the General Directorate of Public Health Services, began this Monday with the Intensive Public Health Day of Mexico City 2023, which will take place from May 22 to June from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the 230 Health Centers of the capital.
“This Health Day consists of recovering vaccination coverage for girls and boys from 0 to 9 years old. For 12 days we are going to intensively apply the vaccines they need,” explained Dr. Jorge Ochoa Moreno, Director of the Public Health Services of Mexico City.
For this reason, SEDESA invites parents and/or guardians to go to any of the 230 Health Centers, in order to start or, where appropriate, complete the vaccination schemes for girls and boys who comply with the age range. The locations can be consulted at the following link:
The diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) vaccine is available for 4-year-old girls and boys, as well as the Hexavalent vaccine, which protects against six different diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae, hepatitis B and polio.
In the same way, immunizations against measles, rubella and mumps (SRP), Hepatitis B, rotavirus, pneumococcus and tuberculosis (BCG) are offered to the different age groups. In addition, for people over 18 years of age, the Abdala vaccine against COVID-19 is available.
“We have just over 11,000 doses of DPT. During the pandemic we did have a lag in this vaccination, but in this intensive campaign we are going to recover percentages of coverage”, commented Dr. Ochoa Moreno.
During the day, various preventive services will be implemented, such as detection of diabetes, high blood pressure and screening for different types of cancer. In addition, vitamin A is administered to the population from 6 months to 4 years of age in localities where there is a risk of diarrheal diseases.
Within the framework of the day, the Health Services will carry out the anti-rabies vaccination of dogs and cats that are more than one month old.
SEDESA reiterates its commitment to provide comprehensive health promotion, prevention and education services, in order to promote a better quality of life in the population.
