The Ministry of Defense, the Federal Security Service and the Border Service have reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to penetrate the Belgorod regionannounced the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
“The Ministry of Defense, the Federal Security Service and the Border Service reported to the Russian President – Supreme Commander-in-Chief about the attempt of a Ukrainian sabotage group to break into the Belgorod region. Work is underway to push them out of Russian territory and on the destruction of this sabotage group,” Peskov said.
According to him “there are sufficient forces and resources in place“.
Peskov assumed that this was done in order to divert attention from the “Bakhmut” direction.
“We very well understand the purpose of such sabotage – to divert attention from the Bakhmut direction, to minimize the political effect of the loss of Artemovsk to the Ukrainian side,” he said.
Earlier on Monday, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that a sabotage group from Ukraine infiltrated the region.
“A sabotage-reconnaissance group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has entered the territory of Graivoronsky district.
The Armed Forces of Russia together with the Border Service, Rosgvardiya and FSB take the necessary measures to eliminate the enemy“, the regional governor wrote on his Telegram channel.
