After Madrid, it’s Paris’s turn to host the great immersive experience “Tim Burton, the Labyrinth”. Here are 3 good reasons to go under the big top of Porte de la Villette (Paris 19th), and get lost in the inner world of the American director.
Because there are all the filmmaker’s cult creatures
In this labyrinth, which was imagined by Tim Burton himself, the atmosphere is his image: mysterious, fantastic, and a little macabre. And throughout this adventure, you will come across all the emblematic characters of Tim Burton’s universe: Emily, the bride of the “Dead Wedding”, the queen of hearts of “Alice in Wonderland”. You can also have your picture taken next to the life-size statue of Edward Scissorhands and Woode wonka in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
Because every experience is unique
In each room there are several doors, and it is up to you which one you want to push. 1, 2, 3 or 4? In total, there are more than 300 possible routes, knowing that whatever happens, you will necessarily pass through 15 different rooms: “Love, ghosts and cemeteries”, “Friends and enemies”, “Alien-nation”, or again the one called “Misunderstood Monsters”, themes that are dear to the director. And each of the rooms is embellished with animations and games of shadows and lights (watch out for insects under your feet).
Because you will see more than 150 original designs
Installed until August 20 under a large marquee of 5,000m2, this labyrinth is also a real art exhibition. Indeed, more than 150 original drawings and sketches by Tim Burton, illustrating his creative process, are on display. During the visit, which lasts approximately 1 hour, you can also admire paintings, photographs and cartoons. In addition, some of these works are visible for the very first time. A few quotes, like those from Johnny Depp, alias Edward Scissorhands, also decorate the walls of this supernatural journey.
«Tim Burton, The Labyrinth», Porte de la Villette, Paris 19th. From 18 euros entry (free for children under 4). Until August 20.
