Asen Vasilev to be Finance Minister in Future Government with Rotating Prime Ministers

Asen Vasilev will be finance minister in the future government with the second mandate, in which Nikolay Denkov and Maria Gabriel will be prime ministers on a rotating basis. This was agreed between the supporting formations We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) and GERB – SDS, BNR reports, citing its sources.

This was also one of the conditions of the second largest parliamentary force.

Borisov: Let five angels descend from heaven and from 116 become 121 deputies

The agreed scheme envisages that Academician Denkov will be prime minister first, Maria Gabriel – vice and foreign minister. The two arrange ministerial positions together, without politicians.

For the two parliamentary groups GERB-SDS and PP-DB, the second mandate will be national and will be used to broadcast a stable government around which to form a constitutional majority.

The positions of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister will be held on a rotating basis for consecutive periods of 6 months each. At the end of each of these periods, the prime minister will submit his resignation to the cabinet, the deputies from GERB-SDS and PP-DB will vote on it and support the nomination of the other parliamentary group for the next prime minister, and the current prime minister will become vice.

According to a similar “gentleman’s” scheme for rotation, the two formations agreed on the election of Rosen Zhelyazkov as chairman of the National Assembly. After 3 months in office – in the middle of July, he should be replaced by Nikola Minchev from PP. Therefore, the election of the prime minister would be tied to the rotation between Zhelyazkov and Minchev.
